Gorilla Grow Tent Vs Secret Jardin

It’s important to pick the right equipment whether you’re a beginner starting your first grow operation or an experienced grower in need of an upgrade. Maybe you’re in between and looking to step your game up with a grow tent.

When it comes to indoor growing operations, grow tents have a number of advantages over something like a grow room.

Two great lines of products come from Gorilla Grow Tent and Secret Jardin.

Gorilla Grow Tent Vs Secret Jardin

Both are reputable companies that set a high standard for the other grow tents we’ll be looking at and reviewing here on Grow Tent Reviews. They both offer good “standard” grow tent product lines that have wide-ranges of sizes and in addition have other specialty products you may be interested in.

For this versus review, we’ll focus on the main product lines for each company, the Original Gorilla Grow Tent and the main Secret Jardin grow tent, but talk about each product quickly as well.

Some important factors we consider when looking at these grow tents are:

  • Height/width and any extension kits available
  • Quality
  • Type of fabric (thickness)
  • How easy is it to assemble by yourself?
  • Design (utility and aesthetics)

First, let’s look at the Gorilla Grow Tent.

Gorilla Grow Tent

Gorilla Grow Tent

Gorilla Grow tent is one of the most popular grow tent brands out there. Aside from their catchy name, they also make top-quality products. As you will see, both of these are great brands. They both simply have their own pros and cons, and price ranges.

Gorilla Grow Tent offers three main products:

  • The Original Gorilla Grow Tent
  • Lite Line
  • Shorty Line

The only big differences in the Lite Line is a lighter fabric and more affordable cost, and the shorty starts at a smaller height. Other than those big differences the Lite Line and Shorty Line are almost the same as the Original Gorilla Grow Tent.

Now, let’s check out the features of the Original.

The height of the Gorilla Grow Tent is higher than most other grow tents. It comes in at over 6 feet and almost reaches 7 feet high. Then, there are add-ons such as a height extender kit you can get to add up to an additional foot in height. If you’re an ambitious grower you may be interested in the height extension kit.

Quality and design-wise, this is a great grow tent.

Gorilla has one of the denser fabrics on the market. Inside is a reflective PVE with a heavy-duty canvas on the outside. This makes the fabric rigid but sturdy and thick.

When growing, this is very important to keep outside light out, keep noise INSIDE the grow tent, and of course, make it less likely to tear.

The design of the Gorilla Tent is made to help keep temperatures down inside the tent too.

The addition height allows for better air circulation, which helps cool the internal temperature by 10 degrees. This may not seem like a high number, but the inside of the tent can get very hot so any decrease in temperature helps keep your plants and home safe.

The tent itself is made of sturdy PVE and heavy canvas, as said above, and metal rods that connect and make the tent actually stand up and give it it’s shape. Unlike other grow tents on the market, Gorilla’s metal rods are high-quality with a corner joint able to interlock.

The tent is also quite easy to install yourself.

Everything is bigger and better on a Gorilla tent so fitting the canvas around the larger metal frame is easier than many other grow tents on the market (and it’s what puts the Gorilla into a league of its own). The addition of velcro door strips and no tight squeezes makes the Gorilla Grow Tent a very easy tent to set up for a beginner.

Some of the little “extras” that really put the Gorilla Grow Tent in a league of it’s own is the inclusion of some things such as a little tool pouch to keep some essentials in, the higher than average height, the door zips all the way in around 360 to make it extra easy to get into, and last but perhaps most importantly is the large ducting port.

The ducting port is 10 inches around which allows you to fit any grow room ventilation system you want in your Gorilla Tent.

Secret Jardin

Secret Jardin

Secret Jardin is another manufacturer of grow tents similar in design to Gorilla Grow Tents.

What are some of its features and what makes it unique among many different grow tents?

In a similar way to Gorilla Tents, Secret Jardin has different categories of grow tents, but in this case it’s more different levels of experience.

The different levels of Secret Jardin grow tents are:

  • Expert
  • Professional
  • Hobbyist
  • Propagation

The levels go from Expert (being for experts of course and coming with the most features) to Propagation (which is advertised being for beginners and those lacking space).

The fabric the tents are made is canvas on the outside and reflective nylon on the inside. It’s worth noting Secret Jardin was one of the first companies to use the reflective Mylar on the inside that is now industry standard.

The canvas is tear-proof, but compared to the Gorilla tents the Secret Jardin tents have a lower density level. So, compared to the Gorilla tents they will be considered thinner, and not holding as much heat or smell inside, and light from getting inside.

One good thing about the Secret Jardin tents is that they come in a wide variety of sizes. There are even cupboard sized tents for those with very limited space. This variety of sizes means almost anyone in any circumstance can grow a decent yield.

Most of the Jardin tents come with viewing holes that let you check on your plants without you having to go inside the tent. Nice for those who might have limited time or know what they are doing and don’t need to constantly monitor their operation.

The overall design of the Jardin tents is good. It’s not a super sturdy canvas hybrid, but it’s very easy to set up. The zippers, which used to be of cheaper quality, are now much better in terms of long-lasting and keeping light out from getting inside the tent.

Many of the Jardin tents come with numerous vent ports, but they are of various sizes and don’t all cinch (a nice feature to have for any ventilation system).

Choosing Between the Two Grow Tents

Out of both the Gorilla Grow Tent line-up and the Secret Jardin line up it really comes down to your experience level and how much you’re willing to spend.

Overall, the Gorilla Grow Tent Original line is the best. Whether it’s build quality, price, or the little features, it’s just a step above. But it’s the most expensive the higher in the size you go up.

On the other hand, the Secret Jardin Professional and Expert lines, and even the Hobbyist line is good for the lower price point. But, it’s not at the elite build and features level of the Gorilla tents.

One last thing to consider is the fact that you can buy Gorilla Grow Tents straight from the manufacturer’s website, but you can’t with Secret Jardin. You will need to find a brick-and-mortar retailer or an online retailer (which isn’t hard) to purchase a Secret Jardin grow tent.

At the end of the day, both companies make good grow tents for any level of experience. We give Gorilla Grow Tents a slight edge if you don’t mind the cost and want a quality product that will last.
